Joss Smith - co-artistic leader / composer / performer

I’m a Welsh composer and performer who works within various media, ranging from purely sound orientated works to electronic music, instrumental theatre and performance art. A linking factor between these different approaches is the use of expectation and insistence to build tension and subvert the compositional trajectory. For Ear Transplant, I’ll play clarinets + auxiliary instruments as well as conducting and embracing performativity.

Matthew Grouse - co-artistic leader / composer / performer

I’m a composer and performer originally from Yorkshire (UK), currently living and working in Copenhagen (DK). I enjoy interdisciplinarity and often work at an intersection between music for instruments and voices; electronic sound; text; video; and performance. My music regularly engages with a re-contextualisation of everyday sounds, objects, and automatic, repetitive behaviours to reveal the latently musical and bizarre in the familiar or even mundane. As a part of Ear Transplant, I play guitars and live electronics in addition to embracing performance that uses the voice, the body and objects.

Jónas Ásgeir Ásgeirsson - accordionist / performer

I’m an accordionist and performer based in Copenhagen (DK), originally from Reykjavík (IS). I enjoy playing with the boundaries of instrumental performance as well as creating musical narratives. For Ear Transplant I will be playing my accordion(s) and other instruments, as well as exploring extra-instrumental performance.
